Family Announcement: "12.08.1937 - 18.12.2020. Died peacefully at Nelson Hospital. Much loved partner of Debbie, father of Brenda, Willie, Val, John, Joe and Tessa. Grandfather of Jason and Andrew, Cindy and Mike and the late Kyle. Great-Grandfather of Akira and Arlo. John spent a number of years as the groundsman of Athletic Park, enjoying various test matches and concerts up until it's closure. He then retired to Murchison, a special place where he enjoyed gold prospecting and rock and mineral collecting over the years."
