I didn’t know Cliff had died.My association with Cliff was as Secretary of the Rubber Workers union.
Cliff was a straight up guy with principles.Teo things I remember vividly.
1- I asked a question about where I could go to learn something and Cliff replied ” son, you’re in the school of hard knocks, only fools make the same mistake twice”.
2 — Frank Mc Nulty went soft on some government policy and Cliff said ” He’s a part time socialist, only when it suits.”
I respected the man.
I remember when he had a mild heart attack and when he got back on his feet I asked what the doctors said and he replied ” they told me to stop drinking brandy and to stop smoking”
When I asked him what he thought of that he said,” **** that— I will die the way I want to”
To this day I refer to that as the Hanson Theory.
I reckon he earnt his place in the world and will be missed but remembered often.
