Music - Delta Goodrem, Celine Dion, Mareya Lea Watling. She met Delta Goodrem in Auckland when she won a radio station competition to fly up to see her. She also met Celine Dion in concert in Brisbane - Celine took the time to meet Karen and acknowledge the great effort it took her to see her perform. She loved these women till her dying day, and played Delta's CD Wings of the Wild 52 times when she received it. My daughter Mareya is a musician - supported by Karen in every way. Karen's pride in seeing Mareya's first video, was something to behold. Mareya will carry Karen with her wherever she goes and whenever she performs.
Sports - The All Blacks, the Black Caps, and Tennis (Rafael Nadal was her all time fave). Karen herself was a representative table tennis player as a teenager.
Teletubbies - Lala (her) and Dipsey (me)
Karen loved motor bikes and rode one as a young woman. She had two trikes in her garage till shortly before she passed away. They represented hope to her....a hope that never came about.
The Minions - she LOVED them - especially Kevin.
Orcas - her greatest wish was to swim with them, and this was never fulfilled. Our hope is that she is now swimming, and singing, with them.
Animals - cats and dogs. She adored her loved Rags, and her beloved Shadow - who is now in the care of one of her carers, on a farm with other dogs. She always did right by her animals, and they did right by her.

Obituary
CROTTY , Karen Judith
Tauranga , New Zealand
Passed: 1st of Aug 2020
My friend Karen was a tower of strength. As a youngster, she became proficient at piano and guitar, and was also an exceptional singer. She was very close to her father, Robert James Crotty, who passed away when she was 24 years old. She kept her fathers ashes with her till the day she died. Karen had a serious wrist sprain accident in 1994, which was the beginning of her struggle with health and life. She eventually suffered two medical amputations – to her left arm and her right leg – as a result of medical mistreatment and infections that she picked up while in hospital having surgery. This left her with a desperate need for constant pain meds which led to her heart and kidney deterioration. The medial profession certainly let Karen down. She passed away on 1 August 2020 after admission to hospital due to end stage heart failure, 2 days before she died. There was no service for Karen. Her ashes were put near trees, at the request of her family, at the crematorium where she had her very final visit. All of Karen’s possessions, including her father’s ashes, are gone. Her family made no effort to contact her friends or loved ones when she passed. There is no more left of Karen except the gifts she gave us all and her love and huge spirit. This page is an honour to her – and a memorial service will be held soon in order to put some of Karen at the place she wished her ashes to be scattered with her fathers – at Papa Aroha Caravan Camp in the Coromandel, NZ. Thank you, Karen, for all that you were and still are and always will be. We love you and always will.
Mareya (Karen’s goddaughter) and Shadow.

The day I heard you had passed…
I am devastated to hear of you passing my Lala friend. May you be at peace with your beautiful Dad at last – and know that you are in my heart, and Louise and Mareya’s hearts, always. Love from your buddy Dipsey (Linda).
